As many know photography is my first passion. So I have been looking around for photographers that catch my eye and shoot with the same aesthetic I have been looking to do as well. Now the way I found Juan is kinda funny. I was watching his sister's Youtube channel and I saw him in one of her videos and she had mentioned that he was a photographer and that everyone should check him out, so of curse I did and from then I fell in love with his work! He has an eye for detail like no other. The way he composes a photograph is remarkable. Not only has he shoot people like SZA and Elisa Johnson, but he has shoot things that touch into his heritage and his background. I love photographers that haven't allowed the hype to boost their heads and make them into people that they aren't. Juan seems so down to earth and friendly. I would love to meet him in person and get some tips on improve my photography!
Female Icons in Street Style
Let's talk about street style! So this is my personal favorite avenue of the fashion world, because you can piece together different genres of clothing and just make amazing outfits that not only catches the eye but is fashionable as HELL! I want to put a few women on the spot for doing just that:
Aerin Creer @aerincreer
So the first person I want to touch on is Aerin. I recently discovered her on instagram through one of my follwer's page. She instatly caught my attention and I stalked her page all day. Her style is amazing and her body is perfection. Just look how to puts together all these earth tone colors and make this outfit look so effortless but chic. The bubblecoat has been making a come back and definetly in 2018. Fanny packs or "waistbags" are coming back into fashion as well. Simple hair and makeup makes this outfit look so chill until you this slight cleveage. She definitly deserves #1 on my list.
@siobhanbell
Women have been literally killing the game for the past few years in the streetwear game. Mixing and matching masculine pieces with feminine pieces is kinda what fashion is all about. Being able to reach for the unconvential pieces to make a great outfit. @siobhanbell or King Bell has been making major moves in the fashion industry. Just get into these Fendi pants and booties! Like mixing a luxury brand with streetwear is one thing that has been big in the streetwear game and ing Bell has done this perfectly in this outfit.
Tizita Balemlay @theplugsdaughterr
Now Im saving the best for last honey! Let's talk about TPD (theplugsdaughterr). Her style is amazing! She has the ability to combine things that I don't think would look right on anyone else. If you check her Instagram page you will see that she is no stranger to luxury. But she has a way to piece things together and make a street style look. Like the picture attached. The entire outfit is a statement. Now her store @pluggedstorenyc. She has put her love for fashion and allowed others to feel the same with her pieces. The camo being my favorite. She has taken a old trend and made into pieces that are very unique. Others can copy but she was the first. Long live @theplugsdaughterr!
NYFW 2018
2018 is the year of progression. Fashion week is a time for every person who loves and hate fashion to come together and curate opinions and look at designs. This year NYFW was completely different for me. I wasn't just sneaking into shows or standing in long lines with my phone out trying to rush a door. I was actually working backstage this year. Many people know my passion for photography but a hidden passion that I have is styling. I have been doing it for years on the low and I have finally begun to start pursuing it in New York. I had the honor to work beside an amazing stylist Rachael Wang (@rachaelwangstudios). I worked several shows with her including Death To Tennis, PH5, and Nanushka. Being a stylist assistant is not a job for the faint of heart. Depending on the organization of the brand and the production team will definitaley determine wheter it will be a smooth easy going backstage experience or if you will be running around dretched in sweat and begging for water. My first show was quite stressful because I was resonsible for dressing 4 models at one time but I got it done with no mistakes. The 2nd show was so organized and put together and stress-free. The designers are sweethearts and the whole brand is amazing. The last show was kinda not worth talking about, lol, so I'll just pass on that. This was such a great experience and it will go down in the books as the best Fashion Week thus far.
